MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris volleyball program has released its 2021 schedule. The Cougars will host 11 matches at Jim Gremmels Court inside the Cougar Sports Center, seven of which are UMAC matches in the month of October leading up to the UMAC Tournament, held from Nov. 3-6.
The season begins with a road match at Bethel University on Sept. 1, followed by a tournament co-hosted by Central College and Grinnell College that will take UMN Morris to two locations in Iowa on Sept. 3-4 for four matches. Coming back home, the Cougars will host their first match of the season on Sept. 8 against UW-River Falls at 6 p.m.
After that home match, Minnesota Morris dives back into tournament play with three matches at UW-Stevens Point on Sept. 10-11. The following weekend, UMN Morris hosts the first of two tri-matches on Sept. 18. The day will begin with a match against Buena Vista University at 12 p.m., followed by a neutral-site match between Buena Vista and Concordia College (MN). The day will conclude with the Cougars facing Concordia at approximately 4 p.m.
Conference play opens with three consecutive road matches at the end of September against Crown College, North Central University, and the University of Northwestern. The first home UMAC weekend comes at the start of October with the Cougars welcoming in Northland College on Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. and UW-Superior on Oct. 2 at 1 p.m.
The remaining home matches for Minnesota Morris come on Oct. 12 against Crown (7 p.m.), Oct. 15 against North Central (7 p.m.), Oct. 16 against Northwestern (1 p.m.), and Oct. 22 against Bethany Lutheran College (7 p.m.). The final home date is on Oct. 23 as the Cougars host their second tri-match, facing Martin Luther College at 12 p.m. and UW-Stout at 4 p.m.
Road matches for the Cougars in the month of October take place at Bethany Lutheran (Oct. 8), Martin Luther (Oct. 9), Concordia (MN) (Oct. 19), Northland (Oct. 29), and UW-Superior (Oct. 30).
The top four seeds from the regular season will advance to the UMAC Tournament with semifinals slated for Nov. 3 and the championship match to be hosted by the highest-remaining seed on Nov. 6.
