MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris women's soccer team couldn't keep up with the College of Saint Benedict on Wednesday, falling to the visiting Bennies by a score of 10-0.
The Bennies were unstoppable from the start, with Roxy Veldman scoring what would be the game-winning goal just over three minutes into the match. Five more goals were scored by Saint Benedict, two by Caralyn Conners, in the first 27 minutes to make it 6-0 at halftime.
Veldman finished her hat trick with goals in the 46th and 51st minutes. Saint Benedict struck twice more later in the second half to finish the scoring.
Minnesota Morris ended with four shots in the match.
Monica Calderon had the lone shot on goal, while
Emma Giere,
Lacey Keller, and
BeBe Say each had shots in the match as well.
Bernadette Cienik ended with nine saves on the night.
The Cougars will hit the road on Sept. 6 for their first road match of the season, facing the University of Wisconsin-River Falls at 2 p.m.
