MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris men's soccer team wasn't able to slow down the University of Wisconsin-Superior on Saturday evening in a 6-0 loss to the Yellowjackets. Blake Perry had a hat trick for the visitors as UW-Superior maintained its spot atop the UMAC standings.
Lucas Harmon blocked a UW-Superior penalty kick in the seventh minute, but Perry then opened the scoring by putting a free kick from right wing into side netting from 20 yards out in the eighth minute. The Cougars then fought to hang on for more than 30 minutes before the Yellowjackets poked one home from close range off of a corner kick in the 40th minute to make it 2-0 at the half.
Perry added his second goal with a quality finish inside the penalty area in the 59th minute and then completed his hat trick six minutes later. Phillip Eriksen scored his second goal of the match in the 73rd minute and the Yellowjackets completed their scoring with a penalty kick in the 82nd minute.
Harmon finished the day with nine saves.
Carver Hammond and
Kenyon Ponce had two shots each for the Cougars, while
Cooper Jones added one.
Minnesota Morris treks to Mankato on Oct. 5 to face Bethany Lutheran College at 5:30 p.m.
