Concordia Breaks Stalemate in Second Half to Down Men’s Soccer

The Cobbers struck three times in the second half on Thursday to earn a 3-0 win over the Cougars.

MOORHEAD, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris men's soccer team fought through the heat on Thursday afternoon, but Concordia College (MN) ultimately was able to break the scoreless deadlock early in the second half and pull away for a 3-0 victory.

Though the Cobbers struck the crossbar in the seventh minute, Lucas Harmon was otherwise able to handle things in the first half by making four saves to keep the match level at 0-0.

Coming off the bench and providing a spark, Concordia's Telvin Vah struck in the 50th minute to give the Cobbers the lead. Vah then assisted on the second Concordia goal in the 65th minute on a shot from Gannon Brooks. The final nail in the coffin came in the 87th minute as a tiring Cougar team allowed a third goal from Kayden Aberle that made it 3-0.

Nick Isensee was charged with the loss in the match after coming in for Harmon in goal in the second half. Isensee made one save in his 45 minutes of action. Shots in the match for the Cougars came from Colin Renner and Dominik Cantu-Polster.

Minnesota Morris is back home at Cougar Field on Saturday, hosting Hamline University at 2 p.m.
