SUPERIOR, Wis. – The University of Minnesota Morris men's soccer team was unable to keep up with a University of Wisconsin-Superior team celebrating Senior Day and looking to keep pace near the top of the UMAC standings. The Yellowjackets struck three times in each half to run away with a 6-0 win over the Cougars.
UW-Superior put its first goal on the board in the sixth minute on a Nicolai Stokker shot that was assisted by Josh Bellamy. Bellamy would come up with a goal of his own in the 14th minute and then add his second of the match on a penalty kick in the 28th minute to put the Yellowjackets ahead, 3-0, at the break.
In the second half, Minnesota Morris held firm until after the hour mark when UW-Superior scored three times from Jake Kidd, Stokker, and Gavin Watkinson to reach the final margin. Shots from
Cooper Jones and
Jacob Lee in rapid succession were off the mark as the Yellowjackets held on for the shutout.
Nick Isensee made 11 saves in the match.
Minnesota Morris is back home at Cougar Field on Wednesday afternoon, hosting Crown College at 3:30 p.m.
