Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Falls to UMAC Leaders

The Cougars held UW-Superior in check for much of the first half before the Yellowjackets broke through and pulled away.

SUPERIOR, Wis. – The University of Minnesota Morris women's soccer team held out for most of the first half, but the University of Wisconsin-Superior were able to score before halftime and tacked on three more from there in a 4-0 victory on Saturday.

The first half was played largely on the Minnesota Morris half of the field, but the Cougar defense was disciplined and kept UW-Superior from scoring for nearly 40 minutes. Danielle Reinhard was kept busy in front of goal, but made six saves. However, Reinhard's last save – a sprawling effort to deny Niya Wilson – fell to Mya Holmquist on the rebound and she put it away to make it 1-0 at the half.

Coming out for the second half, Wilson netted twice in quick succession in the 51st and 53rd minutes to seal the win for the Yellowjackets. Kamryn Hill scored as the clock ticked inside 18 minutes remaining to wrap up the scoring. Shots from Maddie Schneider and Kim Peters late in the match were saved by Jenna Lang to preserve the shutout.

Reinhard made 11 saves during her time in goal for the Cougars, while Chantel Peralta was credited with one after she checked in during the second half.

Minnesota Morris returns home to Cougar Field and will host Crown College on Wednesday afternoon starting at 1 p.m.
