MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris men's soccer team kept things close with Concordia College (Minn.) for a half on Wednesday before the Cobbers scored four goals in a 20-minute span of the second half to pull away for a 5-0 win.
Concordia had the better chances in the first half, but it took a breakthrough from substitute Leo Dunor in the 34th minute to finally get the Cobbers on the board. Shortly after that,
Carter Watkinson forced a save from Concordia goalkeeper Jensen Waltz on a hard shot from just outside the 18-yard box to keep the Cobbers in front at the break.
Neither side produced much in the 10 minutes coming out of the break, but Concordia hit the gas starting in the 58th minute with a goal from Owen Gallo. That was followed by Dunor's second goal of the afternoon in the 65th minute. The Cobbers capped their flurry of goals with two more in the 76th and 78th minutes to complete the scoring.
Nick Isensee was called into action to make four saves.
Burke Sheppard finished with three shots in the match, including one on goal.
Minnesota Morris is back at Cougar Field on Saturday afternoon, facing Augsburg University at 3:30 p.m.
