Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Scores One Goal on UW-Superior

SUPERIOR, Wis. - The University of Minnesota Morris Men's Soccer team battled with the University of Wisconsin - Superior Yellowjackets on the road. The Cougars took a loss on the day, moving to 2-6 in UMAC play on the season. 

The Yellowjackets started their scoring campaign early, taking shot after shot on goal before managing to find the back of the net for back-to-back goals in the 11th and 15th minute. Aaron Mackall responded with a scoring attempt of his own, missing the goal to the left in the 16th minute. UW-Superior scored their third goal of the half in the 37th minute, pushing their lead to 3-0 where it remained heading into halftime. 

The Yellowjackets once again dropped back-to-back goals into the Cougar net in the 46th and 47th minute respectively to take a commanding 5-0 lead. A sixth goal for the home team came in the 53rd minute, followed quickly by a seventh goal less than thirty seconds later. Down 0-7, Minnesota Morris scored their first and only goal of the match in the 71st minute. Theo Bubser found Cooper Jones on a pass to bring the score to 1-7. UW-Superior responded with their eighth goal in the 72nd minute to maintain their seven point lead. The game remained scoreless for both teams, and the final whistle blew with the Yellowjackets leading the Cougars 8-1. 

Jones took two shots on goal, scoring the long Cougar goal of the day. Mackall and Piseth both took one shot for Minnesota Morris. Nick Isensee played all ninety minutes in goal, making eleven saves on the day.

The Cougars will head on the road again for a 4:30 pm matchup against Crown College on Oct. 16.
