Women’s Soccer Takes Loss on the Road

SUPERIOR, Wis. - The University of Minnesota Morris Women's Soccer team headed up to Superior to take on the University of Wisconsin - Superior Yellowjackets on their home field. The Cougars took a tough loss, and left the game 1-5-1 in UMAC play on the season. 

The Yellowjackets opened the scoring very early in the matchup, finding the back of the net just 14 seconds into the and taking in early 1-0 lead. Bella Toth made the lone scoring attempt for Minnesota Morris in the 6th minute of the game, placing a shot on net but being unable to get the ball past the UW-Superior keeper. The Yellowjackets scored goals two and three back-to-back in the 16th and 17th minute of the game. Continuing to fire shots on net, UW-Superior's efforts were rewarded with an unassisted goal in the 32nd minute and a fifth goal shortly after. The Yellowjackets held a commanding 5-0 lead over the Cougars heading into halftime.

Continuing to pressure the Minnesota Morris defense, UW-Superior scored their sixth goal in the 46th minute of the game and followed it up with a seventh goal in the 51st minute. The Cougar defense held the home team at bay for several minutes, until the Yellowjackets scored their eighth goal in the 67th minute of the match. Minnesota Morris didn't allow anymore goals, and the match ended with UW-Superior up 8-0 on the Cougars. 

Toth had the lone shot on net for Minnesota Morris. CJ Frear-Boerner and Danielle Reinhard both played a half in the net for the Cougars, making six and nine saves respectively. 

The Cougars continue their time on the road with a matchup against Crown College Oct. 16 at 7 pm.
