NEW ULM, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Morris Women's Soccer team took on the Martin Luther College Knights on the road. The match ended with a final score of 0-0, and the Cougars move to 1-6-2 in conference play.Â
The Cougars took multiple shots on goal in the first fifteen minutes of the match, with Greta Keffer and Johnette Nagbe leading the charge. Martin Luther responded with shots of their own, challenging Danielle Reinhard in the net but not being able to get shots past the Minnesota Morris keeper. The Cougars battled for possession, getting two more shots from Fiona Chinavare and Keffer before the half retired.Â
The offense started to slow down for Minnesota Morris in the second half, allowing the Knights to take advantage of their possession with a few shots at the Cougar net. Rylie Lovec made the first scoring attempt for the Cougars in the half, followed by another shot on net from Nagbe. Jhazlyn Wynne took another crack at the net for the Cougars but was foiled by the Knight's goalkeeper. Nagbe managed one more shot late in the game but was unsuccessful in her scoring effort. The final whistle blew with the two teams tied 0-0.Â
Nagbe totaled up five shots, two of which were on goal. Keffer took two shots for the Cougars. Reinhard ended the day with nine saves to aid in the draw for the Cougars.Â
The Cougars will return home Oct. 26 for a 3:30 pm matchup against the University of Northwestern.Â
