Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Home Team Falls 4-0 in Tough Match Against Northwestern

MORRIS, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Morris Men's Soccer team took on the University of Northwestern Eagles in a tough matchup at home. The Cougars came out of the game with a loss, moving to 4-8 in conference play and 4-14 overall in the 2024 season.

The Eagles opened the scoring early in the game, finding the back of the net in the 2nd minute. The visiting team followed that with a second goal in the 6th minute of the match, taking an early 2-0 lead. The third goal of the half came in just the 12th minute of the game, and put the Eagles up 3-0 very early in the matchup. Northwestern continued to dominate possession of the ball, but Nick Isensee and the rest of the Cougar defense kept the Eagles to three goals in the half.

Northwestern continued to hold possession of the ball in the second half, but the Cougars got their first shot in the 53rd minute. Aaron Mackall found himself in scoring condition but missed the goal wide left on his shot. Isensee had the other shot for the Cougars, taking a free kick in the 70th minute that went aided by the wind all the way to the Eagle's goalie. Northwestern shut down the Minnesota Morris offense after that, not allowing shots but continuing to hammer the net. A penalty in the box gave the Eagles their fourth and final goal of the day in the 83rd minute. Despite intense effort from the Cougars, they trailed 0-4 at full time.

Mackall earned one shot for the Cougars on the day, while Isensee had the lone shot on goal. Isensee also totaled up ten saves for Minnesota Morris.

The Cougars will take on North Central University Oct. 30 on Cougar Field. The match is scheduled for a 1 pm kick-off.
