ROSEVILLE, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Morris Men's Soccer team battled with the University of Northwestern Eagles in an intense UMAC match up.
The Eagles offense got things rolling in this match, taking shots on goal that were saved by Nick Isensee in the Cougar net. Whitaker Root made the first shot attempt for the Cougars on the day, finding the net but not managing to get the ball past the Northwestern keeper. The Eagles scored their first goal of the match in the 27th minute, giving them a 1-0 lead. The rest of the half was scoreless for both teams, and halftime started with Northwestern up 1-0 on the Cougars.
Northwestern's second, third, and fourth goals came in quick succession in the second half, being scored in the 52nd, 54th, and 57th minute. Minnesota Morris responded quickly with a goal from Cooper Jones in the 58th minute. Ahead 4-1, the Eagles maintained good possession of the ball, continuing to fire shots at the Cougar's net. Isensee was solid in the net, not allowing any more goals for the home team.
Aaron Mackall took two shots for the Cougars. Root and Jones took one shot apiece, with Jones scoring the one goal for Minnesota Morris. Isensee made twelve saves on the day in net for the Cougars.
