Cougars Take a Loss on the Road to Bethany Lutheran

MANKATO, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Morris Women's Soccer team took on the Bethany Lutheran College Vikings on the road. The Cougars fell 0-4 to the Vikings, moving to 1-4-1 in conference play.

The Vikings opened the scoring early in this matchup, launching the ball into the net in the 12th minute of the game. Nibras Luqman was quick to answer back with a shot that went to the wide left almost immediately after kick-off, but she was unable to find the net. Bethany Lutheran continued to hammer shots at the Minnesota Morris goal, managing to find the back of the net again in the 25th minute to bring the score up 2-0 with the Cougars trailing the Vikings. Minnesota Morris remained solid on defense, not allowing another goal for the remainder of the first half. Fiona Chinavare was able to place a shot on net for the Cougars, but it was knocked away by the Bethany Lutheran goalie.

The second half brought back-to-back goals for the Vikings in the 58th minute, pushing the score to 4-0 with Bethany Lutheran leading Minnesota Morris. Despite two shot attempts from Madysen Johnson and one from Chantel Peralta, the Cougars did not manage to put a point on the board in the match. However, Danielle Reinhard, the goalkeeper for Minnesota Morris, and the rest of the defense held the Vikings to 4-0 for the remainder of the match.

Johnson and Greta Keffer both took two shots on the day for the Cougars, each managing to place one shot on goal. Peralta, Luqman, and Chinavare all finished the match with one shot apiece. Reinhard was solid in goal for Minnesota Morris, finishing the day with eleven saves while playing all ninety minutes.

The Cougars continue their stretch of road games by heading up to the University of Wisconsin - Superior on Oct. 12 for a 3:30 pm kick-off.
