MORRIS, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Morris men's soccer team took on the University of Wisconsin - Stout in their last match before UMAC action starts.
The first half of the match remained scoreless all the way through, although the Cougars put plenty of pressure on the Blue Devils' defense. Gavin Tarbox, Cooper Jones, and Jacob Lee all put shots on net for Minnesota Morris, but were unable to find the back of the net. Nick Isensee made two saves in the half to shut down the UW - Stout offense.
The Blue Devils scored their first and only goal of the game with a shot fired into the top corner of the goal, just out of reach for Isensee. With the score at 1-0 in favor of UW - Stout, the Cougar offense continued to battle for possession of the ball. Burke Sheppard, Jay Clarksen, and Brayden Rock added their own shot attempts to the Minnesota Morris stats, but fell short of scoring a goal. Despite the Cougars pushing the ball up the pitch, the game retired with a final score of 1-0 in favor of the Blue Devils.
Jones attempted three shots in ninety minutes of play, managing to put one on goal. Lee also played ninety minutes and attempted two shots, one of which was on goal. Burke played all ninety minutes as well and took two shots for the Cougars. Isensee ended the day with four saves in the net.Â
