Women’s Soccer Battles to a Draw Against the Polars

MORRIS, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Morris Women's Soccer team took on the Crown College Polars in an exciting UMAC matchup. The Cougars dropped two goals on the Polars in this intense battle for possession of the ball.

The first goal came early from the Polars, with a shot fired from inside the eighteen yard box past CJ Frear-Boerner two minutes into the game. Bella Toth charged the Crown goal less than a minute later, getting a shot off but was unable to score. Nibras Luqman, Fiona Chinavare, and Johnette Nagbe also made their own attempts on the Polars' net during the first half with no success. Despite the intense offensive effort from Minnesota Morris, Crown remained up 1-0 heading into halftime.

Chinavare evened up the score just 38 seconds into the second half with a header that flew over the head of the Polars' goalie. Tied at 1-1, Crown once again went on the offensive. In the 50th minute of the match, the Polars managed to score their second goal of the day on Danielle Reinhard in the net for the Cougars. Toth was quick to answer back for Minnesota Morris with a goal from just outside the eighteen yard box in the 52nd minute, tying up the game once again. Both teams fought to get ahead with no success. At the final whistle, the score remained 2-2.

Toth took a total of five shots on the day, and scored one goal for the maroon and gold. Chinavare took three shots and scored one goal off a header. Luqman and Nagbe took two and one shots respectively, with Luqman placing one on net. Greta Keffer assisted one goal for the Cougars.
