MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris women's soccer team played to a 0-0 draw against Bethany Lutheran College in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) opener on Tuesday evening in Morris, Minn. Junior goalkeeper
CJ Frear-Boerner recorded 11 saves for her second shutout of the season.

With the result, the Cougars move to 1-5-2 overall and 0-0-1 in UMAC play, while the Vikings go to 0-4-2 overall and 0-0-1 in the conference.

"It was a very hard-fought game once again, we are very proud of our player," said head coach
Emma Morris. "We had opportunities offensively are thought the back line and CJ held our back line well. Nice to see Johnette getting some more opportunities on offense. Now we just need to rest up and get healthy as a squad."

Frear-Boerner was tested early making her first save less than a minute in. After 15 minutes,
Johnette Nagbe had the first Cougar shot on goal. Nagbe would fire another shot from a corner kick but missed wide.
Brianna Ganske also had a shot on goal, but the score remained level. Frear-Boerner made seven saves in the first half to keep the Vikings off the board.

Nagbe continued to apply pressure in the second half, firing the first shot after the break.Frear-Boerner continued to stand strong making saves, intercepting cross and stopping attacks as the last line of defense. The Cougars' best chance came with 20 minutes remaining when Nagbe beat the goalkeeper, but the wet grass slowed the ball enough for a Viking defender to clear it off the line.

Neither team was able to break the deadlock, resulting in a scoreless draw.

Nagbe led the Cougars with a season-high four shots on goal, while Ganske added one.
Rourke Nebel and
Ashlynn Pollreisz each had two shots that were off target. Frear-Boerner finished with 11 saves in her second shutout performance of the season.

Minnesota Morris continues UMAC play on Tuesday, traveling to face Martin Luther College at 4:30 p.m.
