MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris baseball team defeated Martin Luther College 4–1 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play Tuesday evening in Morris, Minn., on Senior Day.
Before the game began, eight seniors—

Parker Gilchrist,
Aidan Moran,
Ryan McGie,
Ben Meuser,
Elias Harrington, and
Andrew Franson—were honored for their time and dedication to the team.
Minnesota Morris improves to 15–13 overall and 11–4 in the conference, while the Knights drop to 5–23 overall and 0–12 in conference play.
Tyler Moriarty had the first hit of the game with a bunt single, then advanced to second after stealing the base. The Cougars took the lead on a single from
Luke McHugh.
Trevor Haberman drew a two-out walk to load the bases, but they were left stranded.
Ryan McGie retired the first 11 batters he faced. The Knights recorded an infield single, but McGie induced a pop-up from the following batter to keep the Cougars in front, 1–0.
Blake Imhoff singled to lead off the fourth inning, and an error and wild pitch advanced him to third, but he was left stranded.
In the sixth inning, the Knights tied the game on a sacrifice fly. In the bottom of the inning, Haberman gave the lead right back to the Cougars with a leadoff home run.
The lead grew in the seventh inning.
Landen Meyerdirk was hit by a pitch, followed by a walk from Moriarty. Two wild pitches advanced the runners, allowing Meyerdirk to score. Later in the inning, Moriarty came around to score on another wild pitch, giving the Cougars a 4–1 lead after the seventh.
Martin Luther began to put things together in the ninth. They opened with a single, and after two outs, added another to put the tying run at the plate.
Breckin Silvain was called upon; after walking his first batter, he struck out the next to secure the win for UMM.
Moriarty extended his hitting streak to 15 games, going 2-for-3 at the plate with two walks. The Cougars had seven hits, with McHugh, Haberman, Imhoff,
Peyton Neadeau, and
Kellan Oligmueller each adding one. Haberman had the only extra-base hit of the game with the go-ahead home run in the sixth. Moriarty and Imhoff each stole a base in the win.
McGie earned the win after pitching 8.2 innings. He struck out eight batter, gave up no walk, five hits and one unearned run. Silvian recorded the final out for his sixth save of the season.
The Cougars are scheduled to play Concordia College Moorhead on Thursday on the road.
