Cougars Finish Undefeated at Home with 13–10 Win Over Concordia

MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris baseball team finished 7–0 in home games after defeating Concordia College 13–10 Sunday afternoon in Morris, Minn.
 
The Cobbers got on the board early with a sacrifice fly in the first inning. The Cougars responded with a Ben Meuser solo home run to tie the game after one inning of play.
 
Minnesota Morris took the lead in the bottom of the third. Aidan Moran drew a leadoff walk, and a sacrifice bunt from Landen Meyerdirk advanced him. Tyler Moriarty walked, and Meuser singled to load the bases with one out. Ryan McGie drove in a pair with a double, putting the Cougars up by two after three innings.
 
Concordia answered by scoring two in the fourth to even the score. UMM quickly loaded the bases in the bottom half, with Peyton Neadeau getting hit by a pitch, Taeyvn Brown singling, and Moran drawing a walk. Meyerdirk gave the Cougars the lead with an RBI single, and Moriarty drove in two with a single. Later in the inning, McGie homered, pushing two more runs across the plate. The final run of the inning came when Moran drew a bases-loaded walk, putting UMM up 10–3.
 
The Cobbers pulled themselves right back into the game, scoring six runs in the fifth, including a grand slam, to pull within one. The Cougars created some separation in the bottom of the frame. McGie drove in a run with an RBI double. With the bases loaded, Brown was hit by a pitch, and Moran drew a walk, scoring two more runs to make it 13–9 after five innings.
 
The final run was scored in the top of the sixth by Concordia. Breckin Silvain pitched the final two innings to earn the save and secure the 13–10 victory for UMM.
 
The Cougars had 13 hits in the home finale. Meuser and McGie each had three hits, while Moriarty and Kellan Oligmueller added a pair. McGie recorded five of the team's 11 RBIs, and Moriarty led the team with three runs. Moran drew four walks in the contest without recording an at-bat and scored two runs while also driving in two.
 
On the mound, Parker Gilchrist pitched four innings in the win, striking out three batters and allowing two earned runs. Emmett Campbell and Sebastian Bark combined for the next inning. Silvain tied the program's save record with his seventh save of the season. In his two innings of work, he struck out two batters, walked two, and did not allow a hit or a run.
 
The Cougars will play Division I South Dakota State University on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
