ST. PAUL, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris women's soccer team was defeated 4-0 by Hamline University on Friday evening in St. Paul, Minn.
The Cougar defense was tested early, and
CJ Frear-Boerner made her first save in the opening minute. The pressure continued, and the Pipers found the back of the net in the 13th minute. Hamline added another goal in the 32nd minute to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.
The scoring continued into the second half, with Hamline pushing its lead to three six minutes into the half. The Cougars had more offensive opportunities in the second half, with
Rylie Lovec recording the first UMM shot of the half shortly after the goal.
Abigail Oxborough had a shot seconds later, but the Cougars remained off the scoreboard. The Pipers added their final goal in the 72nd minute.
Malia Totoris had the final shot of the game, but the score ended 4-0.
The Cougars recorded three shots in the contest, coming from Lovec, Oxborough, and Totoris. In goal, Frear-Boerner made 11 saves.
Minnesota Morris continues its road trip at the College of Saint Benedict for a 1 p.m. kickoff on Sunday.
