Men’s Soccer Starts 2026 with 1-0 Victory at Concordia

MOORHEAD, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris men's soccer team won its season opener, defeating Concordia College 1-0 Tuesday evening in Moorhead, Minn.

This is the second consecutive season the Cougars have started the season 1-0. This is the first win against a MIAC team since the 2019 season for men's soccer.

Minnesota Morris capitalized on its first shot on target. Jake Anargyros got the ball in the box with traffic around him and was able to find an opening for the first Cougar goal of the season. The rest of the half was back and forth, with neither team getting good looks on goal, keeping the lead at 1-0 heading into halftime.

The Cobbers had a chance to level the game early in the second half, but a goal-line clearance by Theo Bubser kept the shutout intact. Late in the half, Chann Piseth made a run into the box and found himself one-on-one with the keeper, but his shot sailed over the bar. Dutch Bullock made seven saves to give the Cougars the 1-0 win.

Anargyros scored his first goal of his sophomore season. The forward had the only shot on goal for the Cougars. Also recording shots in the contest were Karson Busch, Evan Karki, Justin Page, and Piseth. Bullock earned his first collegiate win after making seven saves.

The Cougars have their home opener on Friday when they host St. John's University at 3 p.m.
