MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris women's soccer team was defeated 4-0 by the University of Wisconsin-Superior in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play Saturday afternoon in Morris, Minn.
Goalkeeper
CJ Frear-Boerner was tested early, making her first save within the first three minutes.
Lyla Dusha recorded the first Cougar shot with a strike from distance.
Malia Totoris added another UMM shot, but it was off target. The Yellowjackets struck first in the 28th minute. UWS looked to double its lead in the 32nd minute after being awarded a penalty kick, but Frear-Boerner kept the deficit at one with a save, sending the game into halftime with UWS leading 1-0.
The Yellowjackets continued to put pressure on the Cougar defense.
Brianna Ganske had the team's first shot of the half, but the UWS goalkeeper was there to make the save. UW-Superior found the back of the net in the 72nd minute and continued to add to its lead, winning 4-0.
The Cougars totaled three shots in the game, with Dusha and Ganske recording a shot on goal. Frear-Boerner made a season-high 13 saves in the game.
The Cougars travel to the University of Northwestern for a 4:30 p.m. game on Wednesday.
