St. Bonifacious, Minn. – Competing at the Crown College Invite on Oct. 15, the Minnesota Morris men's cross country team posted season best times across the board.
They are led by
Charles Abraham (Cambridge, Minn.) who placed 25th with a time of 28:36, breaking the 29-minute mark for the first career time. He dropped 40 seconds off his previous personal record, and now places sixth all-time at UMM.
As a team the Cougars placed sixth with 160 points, less than 10 points behind rival St. Scholastica in fifth (151). Division II Minnesota Duluth won the meet with five runners in the top-10.
Greg Schumacher (Wabasha, Minn.) was close behind in 27th, posting a 28:53, also breaking 29 minutes for the first time. A season and career high, he dropped 30 seconds off his personal record.
In all, six of the seven runners posted personal records, including
Declan McCrory (Plymouth, Minn.) who ran his first sub-30 minute race to place 36th with his 29:25.
Also scoring for the Cougars were
Andrew Birnstengel (St. Paul, Minn.) in 45th with his 29:57, and
Kyle Billett (Isanti, Minn.) in 58th with his 31:00.
After a weekend off, the Cougars return to action at the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) championships on Oct. 29. Running at Minneopa Golf Course in Mankato, Minn., the women will start the day at 12:00 p.m., with the men right after at 1:00.
