Waverly, Iowa – The Minnesota Morris men's cross country team ran to a 24th place finish today (Nov. 12) and the NCAA Central Region Championships.
As they have been all season, the Cougars were again led by freshman
Martin Zais. Zais finished the course 27:49.6, placing 120th out of the field of 185. The mark was the best of the season for Zais, as he broke the 28:00 minute mark for the first time in his career.
He was followed by Charlie Abraham who finished in 139th with a time of 28:35.9.
Greg Schumacher and
Declan McCrory came in next, just a few spots from each other, placing 152nd and 158th respectively.
Schumacher finished in 29:25.5, while McCrory was at 30:16.8. Less than a minute back was
Bailey Denzer rounding our the Cougar's scorers with his 30:48.6 to finish 164th.
With no individual qualifiers for the National Championship meet, the regional concludes the Cougars 2011 season. Of today's runner, the Cougars lose only Schumacher to graduation.
