Minneapolis – The Minnesota Morris men's cross country team took a 27th place finish at the Roy Griak Invite on Sept. 24.
The largest event in the country, the Griak featured schools from the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) and across the Midwest. Already a UMAC Runner of The Week this season,
Martin Zais (Hudson, Wis.) took the best finish for the Cougars. Zais finished 117th with a time of 29:16.9, dropping 40 seconds off his Morris freshman record.
At the meet, there was over 300 runners, and Morris had each of its finishers in the top 203.
Daniel Tiernan (Morris, Minn.) finished closely behind Zais with a time 29:49.3 to place 164th. The rest of the Cougars top five were
Greg Schumacher (Wabasha, Minn.) with a time of 30.01.1 in 169th,
Declan McCrory (Plymouth, Minn.) with a 30.11.0 in 173rd, and
Andrew Birnstengel (St. Paul, Minn.) in 186th with his 31.02.3.
Also running for Morris was
Kyle Billett (Isanti, Minn.) and
Denver Rogalla (Onamia, Minn.) who posted a 31:46.3 and 32:19.0 respectively.
The Cougars will now host the Homecoming 5k this Saturday, Oct. 1, at 9:00. If you want to register make sure you go to ummcougars.org
