MORRIS, Minn. – The Cougars (0-9, 0-8 UMAC) wrapped up their home portion of the season on Saturday afternoon, falling 40-2 to St. Scholastica (9-0, 8-0 UMAC). Minnesota Morris was unable to take advantage of three trips inside the red-zone as their lone score came via the safety. It was the first safety for the Cougars since September 5, 2009 against Trinity Bible.
Andrew Fellows became the first rusher to have 100 yards on the ground this season. He finished the game with 108 yards on 15 carries, setting a new career high.
Cody Hickman finished with 14 total tackles and moves into fourth all-time in NCAA Division III history. He will need 14 more tackles next week to become just the third person to reach 500 total tackles in a career.
St. Scholastica scored a trio of rushing touchdowns in the first quarter to jump out to a 20-0 lead. The Cougars were able to hold the Saints scoreless in the second quarter but could not get back in the game after failing to score on two straight possessions that ended inside the six yard line of the Saints.
Preston Robinson would add two more rushing touchdowns in the third quarter to ice the game. Robinson scored five of the six Saints touchdowns in the game. With 1:14 left in the third quarter Hickman sacked the St. Scholastica quarterback in the end zone for a safety.
The final score would end up 40-2 in favor of St. Scholastica. The Cougars will now travel to MacMurray next Saturday in hopes to end the season with a victory.
