The Minnesota Morris baseball team will have quite the task at hand today (May 3), when they square off with Martin Luther in New Ulm for a tripleheader starting at 1:00 p.m.
Before the team hit the road south, UMMCougars.org caught up with
Nate Haseman (Butterfield, Minn.) and
Jordan Gegen (Anoka, Minn.) to talk about the weekend.
In a act that has been trending in the UMAC this year with all the weather cancellations and postponements, this will be the first time the Cougars' attempt to play three in one day,
Just your routine triple-dip, a sweep would go a long way to putting the Cougars into the UMAC tournament May 12-14. Morris is currently in fifth place at 7-6 (8-15, overall) in the conference, three wins behind 10-7 Northwestern who sits in fourth.
However, the Cougars also host Bethany Lutheran this weekend with a chance to steal a game, but the Vikings will be no easy out as they still have a conference title to play for,
Martin Luther is currently 4-20 on the season and 4-11 in the UMAC as they play out the string.
