Box Score ROSEVILLE, Minn. – The University of Minnesota, Morris (6-3, 5-2 UMAC) football team overcame a 14 point fourth quarter deficit to beat Crown 30-29 in overtime for their fifth UMAC win of the year. Morris trailed 23-9 with 7:16 left in the game. The Cougars threw the ball 61 times on the day for 327 yards.
Brendon Foss had 14 catches for 150 yards and a score.
The Storm held the Cougars to just 38 yards rushing their lowest total of the year, it was just the third time all season the Cougars have failed to get over 100 yards in a single game. The 327 yards passing was the second most all year after having 390 in the season opener. The 61 attempts was the most all season by ten attempts.
It is the fourth time this year B. Foss had over 100 yards receiving in a game and the third time over 150 yard in a game.
The Crown Storm opened up the scoring in the in first quarter on a 56 yard run from Amos Schmidt, the point after attempted failed as they went up 6-0. The Storm made it 13-0 with 7:51 left in the half on a Wes Stafford one yard run.
Dalton DeGraffenreid caught an eight yard TD pass from
Derrick Foss making it 13-6, as the point after was missed. It was DeGraffenreid's seventh TD catch of the year. Just 1:39 before the half Cameron Adel hit a 22 yard field goal to make 13-9 going into the break.
After a silent third quarter Kurt Fickle hit a 24 yard field goal making it 16-9 and then the Crown's Sebastian Alvar picked off a pass and returned to the house making it 23-9 with 7:16 left. D. Foss hit his brother B. Foss from three yards out with 5:13 left pulling UMM within seven. With 1:45 left in the game
Leandro Dower scored from a yard out and Adel hit point after to tie the game up at 23.
In overtime Crown had the ball first after the Cougars won the toss and chose to play defense. Amos Schmidt put the Storm up 29-23 but the extra point failed as the Cougars took over. In overtime the Cougars took advantage of two defense pass interference calls and then Dower scored again from a yard out to tie the game. Adel converted the point after to complete the comeback giving UMM the win.
Next week the Cougars will wrap up the season taking on St. Scholastica at 1:00 p.m. at Big Cat Stadium.
