Foss Catches the Eye of the NFL

MORRIS, Minn. – CoSIDA All-American Brendon Foss has caught the eye of the Dallas Cowboys, and participated in a workout with the NFL team in late March. Foss sat down for an interview about how the process started and his thoughts on being contacted by most successful sports league in America.

This past season Foss was one of the best pass catchers in NCAA Division III. He had 54 catches for 789 yards and eight touchdowns on the season, despite missing three games due to injury. He averaged 112.7 yards per game and had 150 yards or more in three games this season. In addition, he had three games with at least ten catches. His season highlight was 12 catches, 182 yards and three touchdowns against Westminster.

After requesting film on Foss, Dallas representatives came to Morris to run the All-American through some workouts. The Cowboys had Foss run the 40, do the bench press and take the Wonderlic Contemporary Cognitive Ability Test (per the West Central Tribune), which are many of the same workouts potential NFL players participate in during the NFL combine. If you are not sure what the Wonderlic Contemporary Cognitive Ability Test entails, you can take a sample test here, thanks to Bleacher Report. SAMPLE TEST

Foss explained that it was a preliminary meeting but he was excited just to have this opportunity. “It was like a dream come true. I never thought that was possible when I came here (Minnesota Morris) but it definitely gives me motivation to work harder and get in better shape,” explained Foss. Next year will be Foss' senior season and he hopes to have successful season both individually and as a team. “We have a lot of great people returning, we hope to build off the success of last season,” expressed Foss.

He knows that it is a long shot to crack the NFL but that does not mean Foss will not try to make it happen. “I am just glad I have the opportunity to play” said Foss, who seems to think that this potential chance to play beyond college is great motivation. There is a list of players who have found success in the NFL after careers in NCAA Division III but that seems far from the mind of Foss. He is focused on working hard and does not want to put the kart in front of the horse. Foss added, “I know this is a long shot but it is still a great opportunity.” The Cowboys informed Foss that he is now an official NFL prospect and he hopes to hear from Dallas in the fall.
