MORRIS, Minn. – Minnesota Morris baseball starts their season today with a doubleheader against Lakeland College. Morris will play ten games from today until next Monday. The Cougars played Lakeland last year in Florida as well, winning 11-6 in the first game before falling 8-3 in the second game.
 
Coming into the season Morris returns several players from last year's team that won the most games since 1996. Grant Harding is excited about the Cougars squad this year as they look to get into the UMAC Tournament at the end of the season. A big part of accomplishing that goal will be setting a tone in Florida. The team will need to rely on their starting pitching early in the trip and look to get help from a deep bullpen, as the games pile up later in the week.
 
Offensively Morris returns a lot of their talent which should help the pitching staff as well. Eric Terres, Donnie Mavencamp, Jake Schmitz and Chandler Erickson all return after successful seasons in 2014. The four combined for 55 RBI's last years, accounting for nearly 1/3 of the teams RBI's.
