LA CROSSE, Wis. – The University of Minnesota Morris track & field team had three throwers in action at UW-La Crosse the past two days in an effort to shore up a berth at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Cody Nye on the men's side and
Jessica Bliese and
Jenica Moes from the women's team all competed in hopes of improving on their best efforts from earlier this season.
Nye took part in the shot put after winning a UMAC title two weeks ago, but was unsuccessful in placing a mark in the event. The same was true of Bliese in the women's hammer throw. Bliese did record a distance in the shot put, finishing 10th in the event with a distance of 39-4.00 (11.99 meters).
Moes had the best showing of the three Cougars, though it didn't improve on her distance from earlier this season in the javelin. With a throw of 125-5 (38.23 meters), Moes was the winner of the javelin in a field of nine throwers at the event.
Qualifiers for the national meet will be announced by the NCAA on Friday.
