Moorhead, Minn. – The Minnesota Morris baseball team returned to the field for the first time in almost two weeks today (Mar. 28), and suffered a road sweep in a doubleheader at Concordia-Moorhead.

Morris (0-10) dropped the first game 9-1 despite playing close for the first four innings, and lost the second game 18-1 when Concordia (7-7) capitalized on six Cougar errors.

Neil Arvold, Eric Terres and Chris Thompson all had two hits on the day, while the Cougars ran nine total pitchers to the mound over the two games, with none throwing more than two innings. Kyla Hill in game one and Kyle Glaser in game two took the losses for the Cougars, with Hill earning his first discussion  in the process.

The Cobbers outhit the Cougars 14-to-5 en route to their 9-1 win on the day's first game, but didn't break things open until late. Jordan Gegen got out to the first two innings by allowing just one run on three hits.

The Cougars came back with one right away in the third to tie it up at one-apiace, before holding the Cobbers off the board in the bottom of the inning. Concordia got two each in the fourth and fifth, before piling on for four in the bottom of the sixth for the final margin.

Terres had the game's only RBI, knocking in Arvold, who scored the Cougars only run while leading the team with his first two-hit game of the season.

In the second game, the Cougars saw just nine of the Cobbers 18 runs come across the plate earned. Concordia took a quick lead with three in the bottom of the first, before adding five, four and five over the third, fourth and fifth respectively.

Meanwhile the Cougars mounted just three hits after the first inning and were shutout over the final six frames.

Morris returns to the diamond this weekend, hosting Crown in the home and UMAC opener. On Mar. 30, the series kicks off with a 3:00 p.m. match-up.
