Wachutka Cuts Down Lumberjacks

Box Score MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota, Morris (2-5, 1-0 UMAC) started the UMAC season off right with a 2-0 win over Northland (2-5, 0-2 UMAC) on Friday afternoon. William Wachutka had both the Cougar goals in the match as UMM used a ten minute burst to gain the lead.

The Cougars dominated the match but Northland's goal keeper Colton Schreyer had a wonderful performance stopping 11 shots and keeping the Cougars at bay several times. In the 25th minute Matthew Bennis found Wachutka in the box. Wachutka sent a shot near the far post and it trickled off the post and in. In the 36th minute of play Ebrima Badgie fought off three defenders and hit Wachutka about 12 yards out. Wachutka took advantage of the open net and struck the ball into the back of the net.

Minnesota Morris finished the day with 23 shots and only yielded two. UMM had 12 corners and did not yield one to the Lumberjacks.

Tomorrow St. Scholastica will come to town with the match set to start at noon.
