Doug Duffy came to Minnesota Morris in 1969 and served as the head wrestling coach for 11 years. During his tenure, Duffy also coached football and golf.

As a wrestler at Concordia College, Duffy finished second in the 1965 NAIA national tournament, and he was named the Outstanding Wrestler in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in 1967.

In his 11 years at Minnesota Morris, Duffy's teams were 98-75-5. He coached 16 conference champions, and had wrestlers named as All-Americans 15 times. Three of those 15 then went on to win national championships.

Duffy was named the NIC Coach of the Year in 1978 and 1979, and in 1980 was nominated for National Coach of the Year honors.
