Greg Lanners was a three-time all-conference selection at defensive back, and in his senior season was named to the Honorable Mention All-American team. He graduated from Minnesota Morris in 1978 and later taught at a number of elementary schools including Taipei American School in Taiwan.

Lanners also spent time as an assistant football coach working on the staff of Southwest Minnesota State. He was the strength & conditioning coach at Minnesota Morris from 1985 to 1991.
