John Nordgaard earned a total of eight letters in football and basketball at Minnesota Morris. His career averages in basketball are an impressive 18 points and 10 rebounds per game. As the quarterback of the football team, Nordgaard broke all the previous school records in that category. In 1968 he was named to the All-Conference teams in both sports and named team Most Valuable Player in both as well. He received district and NAIA honors for his achievements.
Nordgaard served in the military in Vietnam and was decorated with two Bronze Stars, a Combat Medic Badge, a Purple Heart and the Vietnam Service Medal.
