Pat Popowski played four different sports lettering 10 times. Popowski was a captain for both the football and track and field teams as a Cougar. He still holds the record for most receptions in a single game with 26. In 1973 he was the team MVP and an All-Conference player.
In addition to football and track, Popowski was a member of the basketball and baseball teams at Minnesota Morris.
Twice he was named the “Outstanding College Athlete of America” as a Cougar. Following his UMM career he signed a pair of contracts with NFL teams. He signed with the Chicago Bears in 1973 and the New England Patriots in 1975.
