A two-time All-American tight end for the Cougar football team, Randy Geister was impactful at Minnesota Morris both during and after his playing career. On the gridiron, Geister started as an offensive lineman before transitioning to tight end in his sophomore season. He went on to notch 80 catches for over 1,000 yards and 14 touchdowns in his career, earning All-NIC and All-American honors twice. Additionally, Geister suited up for Cougar basketball and was a three-year letterwinner. After signing with the Dallas Cowboys and playing in some preseason NFL games, Geister returned to Minnesota Morris and was the first softball coach in program history, coaching the team for three seasons, as well as the head coach of men's basketball for one season.
