Hall of Fame
A four-year starting quarterback and shortstop for the Cougars, Tom Bergner was a multi-sport athlete competing in football and baseball. As part of 1970 teams in both sports that have been inducted previously into the Cougar Hall of Fame, Bergner was part of some breakthrough teams in the history of Minnesota Morris athletics. Among his individual honors as a Cougar were being named a 1971 Outstanding College Athletes of America and the winner of the 1972 Glen Galligan Award as the most outstanding NSIC athlete. Bergner was a two-time All-NSIC selection in football. At one time the holder of basically every passing record in school history, Bergner signed a contract with the Los Angeles Rams after graduation.
