Mark Williamson was a four-year starter on the football team and received all-conference and all-district honors three times each. In 1975 he was named the Cougar Team MVP. Twice he was named Honorable Mention All-American, and in 1977 he was named a Second Team All-American in NCAA Division III and a Second Team All-American by the Associated Press.
Williamson received the highest award presented to a football player in the NIC when he was selected as the Glen Galligan Award winner in 1977. He was also selected by Minnesota Morris as the Curtis H. Larson Award winner and was the graduation commencement speaker in 1978.
